Remediation Technologies and their Integration in Water Management

The quality of natural water resources is a major concern for the coming decades. The EU Water framework Directive requires improved quality of groundwater and surface water in Europe. An ongoing search for new materials, additives and concepts widens the application areas. To include the impact of remediation technologies in water management, knowledge on their sustainability, the associated costs, and their impact on the water quality in the wider environment and in time is required. Efforts in these directions will be presented and discussed.
